BAHP- Diaper Need Awareness Week 2025

This week, BAHP joins the National Diaper Bank Network and partners across the country in recognizing Diaper Need Awareness Week (September 15–21, 2025).

Diaper need is the struggle to provide enough clean diapers to keep a baby healthy, dry, and cared for. It affects millions of families in the United States. New findings from the 2024 Diaper Check survey highlight the significant challenges faced by parents and caregivers:

  • 1 in 4 families experiencing diaper insecurity report skipping meals so they can afford diapers.

  • 3 in 5 parents miss work or school because they don’t have enough diapers to send their baby to child care.

  • 75% of mothers with diaper insecurity say they feel helpless when they cannot provide enough diapers for their children.

  • 81% of parents and caregivers experiencing diaper insecurity report feelings of hopelessness or depression.

It is clear that diaper need is more than just a financial issue, it is a public health concern that impacts child well-being, parental mental health, and economic stability.

At BAHP, we are committed to supporting solutions that expand access to essential hygiene products, reduce stigma, and raise awareness of the challenges families face. During Diaper Need Awareness Week, we encourage policymakers, community leaders, and the public to take action to help end diaper need.

Together, we can ensure every child and family has the basic products they need to thrive.
