Center for Baby and Adult Hygiene Products (BAHP)

Vision Statement

BAHP will be the first, best and most reliable source of information on the scientific, regulatory and related issues which may impact upon health, safety and environmental aspects of the manufacture, use and disposal of personal hygiene products, including disposable diapers, training pants, feminine hygiene products, adult incontinence products, and wet wipes. BAHP will also be the primary source of such information for its member companies and regulatory agencies in North America.

Mission Statement

  • BAHP will address the scientific, regulatory and related issues in North America which may impact upon health, safety and environmental aspects of the manufacture, use and disposal of personal hygiene products, including disposable diapers, training pants, feminine hygiene products, adult incontinence products, and wet wipes.
  • BAHP will communicate through the Internet and other outlets to consumers, the media, government regulators, NGOs and other stakeholders scientifically sound data on issues impacting personal hygiene products.
  • BAHP will anticipate consumer and media information needs and regulatory trends initiatives that could impact personal hygiene products and will develop and promote scientifically sound positions on key issues to stakeholders.
  • BAHP will be a key resource for members in tracking regulatory, NGO and other developments; in defending members’ personal hygiene products using scientifically sound data and other information; and providing assistance to members in their own public education efforts.
  • BAHP will coordinate its efforts and seek harmonized positions with relevant trade groups, including but not limited to EDANA/HAPCO/SPACE, Institute for Polyacrylate Absorbents, Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates, American Chemistry Council, Personal Care Products Council, Asian Superabsorbent Polymers Industry Association, Japan Superabsorbent Polymers Industry Association, and Japan Hygiene Products Industry Association.
  • BAHP will collect or develop, in consultation with its members and other associations, the data and other information needed to successfully fulfill its mission.
