Period Poverty Awareness Week, BAHP
Statement from The Center for Baby and Adult Hygiene Products (BAHP) on Period Poverty Awareness Week
May 12-16, 2025
Washington, D.C.- At The Center for Baby and Adult Hygiene Products (BAHP), we believe that access to essential hygiene products is a basic human right. During Period Poverty Awareness Week, we stand with advocates, policymakers, and communities working to eliminate the barriers that prevent millions from managing their periods with dignity and safety.
Period poverty impacts people across the country, especially students, low-income families, and marginalized communities, forcing many to choose between menstrual products and other basic needs. No one should have to miss school, work, or daily activities because they lack access to the products they need.
As a coalition representing the absorbent hygiene industry, BAHP supports efforts to expand access to menstrual products through legislation, public-private partnerships, and innovative community initiatives. We are proud to work alongside those striving to ensure that every person who menstruates can do so without stigma, shame, or scarcity.
This week and every week, we reaffirm our commitment to helping address period poverty and supporting equitable access to hygiene products for all.
About BAHP: BAHP serves as the unified voice for personal absorbent hygiene products industry in North America. We foster and advocate for the personal absorbent hygiene products industry by promoting and supporting the safety, sustainability, and integrity of its products.
