BAHP Joins ISO Technical Advisory Group Supporting Menstrual Product Standards

The Center for Baby and Adult Hygiene Products (BAHP) is pleased to announce its participation in the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO Technical Committee 338, the international committee responsible for the standardization of menstrual products.

The U.S. TAG plays a critical role in representing national interests in the development of voluntary consensus standards for menstrual products at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Administered by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the TAG is guided by the principles of consensus, due process, and openness, ensuring that standards development reflects balanced stakeholder input and transparent procedures.

The scope of ISO/TC 338 covers standardization in the field of menstrual products, including all products intended for both single and multiple use, regardless of material composition. As such, the committee addresses a broad and evolving category of products that serve essential health and hygiene needs globally.

Through its participation in the U.S. TAG, BAHP will contribute to the development of consensus positions on technical matters across the committee’s working structure, including Ad Hoc Groups, Task Groups, and Working Groups. This structure enables detailed technical collaboration on emerging standards and ensures that U.S. perspectives are integrated into international discussions.

BAHP’s engagement in the TAG supports its broader mission of promoting responsible innovation, product quality, and evidence-based standards within the absorbent hygiene sector. Participation in this process helps strengthen the global standards landscape while supporting clarity, consistency, and competitiveness across markets.

BAHP looks forward to engaging constructively with stakeholders through the TAG process and contributing to the development of practical, science-based standards for menstrual products worldwide.
